About counting movements
Guidelines from NHS and ACOG encourage paying attention to your baby's movements daily rather than counting to a strict number. The count-to-ten method is a simple way to do this: at a time your baby is usually active, count ten distinct movements. If you notice reduced movement, or don't reach ten within two hours, contact your midwife or maternity unit straight away — never wait until the next day.
Reduced movements should never be ignored. This counter cannot assess your baby's wellbeing. If movements feel reduced or different, call your maternity unit immediately — day or night. You will never be a nuisance.
